Chivalry, please: A students tale

Onigiris are tasty
I looked up chivalry in the dictionary today, it said:

"Chivalry and chivalrous are used to describe courteous behavior, especially that of men towards women".

Why was I looking up that word you ask, well the answer to that would be that I find most men today are not as chivalrous as they should be.

Now I'm not asking for a man to lay his coat down over a wet puddle and allow me to walk on it. That's just going to make his coat dirty and material soaks up water anyway, right? To be honest, if I had two brain cells to rub together (which I do!) I would know that: puddle + ballet pump shoes = bad.

All I ask is that perhaps a man would hold the door open for me once in a while, or respect my personal space. I have many bad experiences in the college plaza (main gathering area; think "Zoo at feeding time") where a boy would just randomly push into me and nearly knock me into the next century with the sheer force of it. If I was to express how I feel at that point it would be like this, "AH!".

Now I know you probably think I'm exaggerating, that is why I'm going to use an example from today of how "Chivalry is dead".

I left college at 4 o'clock and quickly hurried out with my friend Shola. I had to catch a bus at just pass the hour and I didn't want to get stuck in the swarm of first year students as they seem to love nothing more than to stand in my way, like the newbies they are. The only part of them that they seem to put effort into moving is their mouths; chatting about how "Jenny totally made out with Tom at that party".

After a quick debate about whether I was going to catch the bus or not, I made up my mind and headed for the cattle drive.

I practically jumped for joy when the bus decided to climb its way towards us. I got on, flashed my student pass and went to look for a seat. Thats when I noticed the first of a string of problems. The seats were mostly taken. I was working myself up to be really annoyed, when I spotted a seat out of the corner of my eye. Thinking it was my lucky day I went to go sit there.

When I got to the seat I saw that a boy had his feet resting on it as he was sat across from it. He looked up and glared at me. He was the type of boy that looked like he hated the world and anything that was living sharing his air. I gave him a pleading face, like "Please give up your seat kind sir for a lady in need". He just scowled even more at me and I kind of had to perch on the corner across from him so as to not touch his feet. Ew. I looked like I was squatting. A position that did nothing for my social status I might add.

He carried on staring at me all the way up the road. His eyes burned into mine like embers and I looked away from him nervously. Finally, when I thought my head was going to implode from all the death stares, a man got on the bus. He took one look at that cocky boy and went to sit in the seat across from him. The boy quickly moved his feet like as if he had been scalded by hot water!

I sat there seething. All I could think in my mind was, you chauvinistic $!%^@%*!
He could give his seat up for a man, probably because he felt that he would get smacked if he didn't, but why couldn't he have been nice to me.
To top it all off, the man who sat next to me stunk. He was so smelly. I can barely even explain it in words but I'll try. He smelt like a million cigarettes that had been burnt in a bonfire, with an added sprinkling of sweat just for kicks. My nose practically jumped off my face and ran yelping for the emergency exit. Bleh.

And thats why I think Chivalry is indeed dead (and people should wash more).

My boyfriend Chris always holds doors open for me when I have my hands full carrying folders. He is the exception to the idiotic male world. If you're reading this Chris, then I have something to say to you: don't lay your coat on the floor for me, its just not sanitary.

Hoped you enjoyed my little rant about chivalry and the apparent lack of it.

Bye xxx

Layout Update

Hiya, I'm currently updating the layout on my sites Version7:Sakura Love layout. I've completed all the blog pages and now I just need to update the content pages. Please be patient! Thank you.

I'm currently at college and sat next to my friend Flow aka Shola, you may remember her from my previous blogs. (Shola is too cool for old school!) She's happy that I'm bigging her up in my blogs. :3

Again, I apologize for the delay but I have to manually code each subpage and it gives me RSI. ^^

First day back at college

Hiya, I'm back! Sorry I took so long in posting again but this week has been quite hectic. I went to the university and had a good long chat about my courses for college. The man who was there was really friendly and helpful. He explained to me that even someone with loads of Ucas points doesn't always get accepted into the university. He says that if I just work hard, he sees no problem of me getting in the university! So now I know that I can achieve what I want. It seems I'm not the only person who college has let down. I was talking to one of my friends in English class and they were having the same problem with their courses being canceled due to funding problems.

Its just a huge relief that I have finally got things sorted out and I'm not feeling as stressed anymore. Shola, my best friend, helped me a lot during all of this. Just by being supportive and a shoulder to cry on.

My CardCaptor Sakura box set came yesterday! :3 I'm so happy because it has taken less than a week to arrive. I'm already watching it as I am typing this blog. ~Nya! ^^
I have put a picture up too, click on it to view a bigger picture.

I've gone and ordered the two CCS movies off eBay too! £9 for two movies is a good price and they are both on one disc. :)

My first day at college was okay, I'm quite pleased with my new timetable as I have only one early start and, seen as I'm only doing 2 A2's and an AS, I have less hours. I start college at half past 2 on a Monday! That means I get to sleep in! hehehe :3
My form class is pretty good too as most of my friends are in it and I more or less know everyone there.

The only thing that is annoying about going back is that there are so many new students starting out that the college is packed at dinner time. The queue was massive on Friday! T_T

I'm sure what to do today, maybe Chris will come round and we can watch a DVD or something.

Oh yeah, Kawaii Awards season one has ended so be sure to pick up your awards. :)

Well I'm off now. Ja ne!

University / CCS on eBay

I love eBay. I bought the entire Cardcaptor Sakura series in a box set for £13! I can't wait for it to come, it should take about 1-2 weeks because its being delivered from overseas. All 70 episodes are included! ~Nyaaa! :3
If you want to buy it for yourself the click here to go to the sellers page. I bought the last one though and I don't know if they've got new stock in yet.

I haven't been online that much really because I've been busy sorting things out for college. Two of my courses have been canceled because of funding problems so I'm trying to make sense of things. Its really going to effect my college year as I'm really going to have to work hard to make up for what they have done, which means no lazing around this year at all. As I said in my previous post, I am so going to be bogged down with with work and revision. I think I'll only have time to squeeze in a blog. I can't get carried away on my website when I'm supposed to be revising!

Today I actually took hold of my life and phoned up the university I want to go to. I'm having a meeting with them on Thursday at 9:30 am and I plan to discuss with them what has happened.

As it stands, when I go back to college I am studying English Language, Media and I.T.

I will blog about what happens at the university, wish me luck.

Bye for now. xxxxxx

Grab life by the conkers

I've been quite busy today. I woke up at 9, which is very early for me, due to the fact that the postman was ringing the doorbell repeatedly. I finally managed to drag myself out of bed to accept a parcel from him that was way to big to fit through the door. I bashed it against the banister on the stairs and nearly fell over the stupid thing. I'm not a morning person and going back to college is defiantly going to make things worse.

I can just see it now, being bogged down with work and revision. Oh, joy. The only person that manages to keep me from going completely insane there is Shola. Seriously, if it wasn't for my friend I think I'd become even more of a hermit then I am now. Actually I should withdraw that comment, I don't want people thinking I have no life. Trust me though, college eats all your time up. Or should I say, High school for all you American readers. I'm confused. :s

I've felt a bit of empowerment with Kihugs today. I've deleted all of the dead link affiliates! God knows what happened to the rule that affiliates are supposed to keep in touch. They must think that once you have linked them then that's it, they don't have to mention you or talk to you. Why on earth then should I even be advertising their lazy asses?!

I've decided that now I'm just going to have links on the side that I like visiting (blog roll) and who comment me regulary (Top affiliates). I will also still link swap and advertise with people but I'm sorry to those affiliates who got deleted. Well actually I'm not, you got deleted because basically you were nothing to Kihugs. I get better comments from people who aren't even affiliates!

Thanks to this article about Teen-bopperitis on Ubiquitous I have now seen where I have gone wrong in even wanting to be "affiliated" with sites like these. There are loads of these sites and I can see how annoying they can be for people to have to view. They are basically filled up with page fodder (like random facts *yawn*) and there is nothing worthwhile that I want to take back from a site like that.

Honestly, I don't care what your pets look like, whether they are dead or on holiday. People don't want to kn
ow 20 random facts about you, like the fact that you don't like broccoli.

I also agree that when people do this its just plain annoying:

The whole raping your eyes with underlining, italics and bolding is just aggravating. Saying random words to display interests is something these people love to do. I still can't really understand why.

You should head over to Crystals site and see what I mean about this.

The funny thing is, is that I used to look up to sites like these and want mine to be just like them, I soon changed my mind about that! When you get right down to it, all they offer is the same content. Stolen celebrity images seems to be their favourites. "Omgz I has liek these k0Ol blendz, no stealin!" Seriously?! X_x
